MHM GearMHM Sultan Backpack has turned heads with their Snake-Loader™ zipper system. It wraps around an entire backpack in the shape of an “S,” allowing access to any panel of the backpack, or you can open up the pack fully and organize your gear with it flat and unzipped. Not all the MHM packs have this design, but the ones that do are notable in terms of how they look and how they function.

The new Sultan 50 is an exciting highlight for the brand this spring and summer. It has the Snake-Loader™ zipper and can also be a multi-day bag, so it’s very versatile.

Pros:  The Sultan can be a day pack, but it can expand to be a multi-day, 60-liter bag if you max out the whole top expansion. It comfortable on the shoulders and hips, and includes a built-in waterproof stuff sack. MHM Gear sells directly to consumers, so you’ll spend less and get more with this brand.
Cons: The pack accommodates multi-day trips, but with light packing in mind. The size works for long days on the trails, but using it for an overnight works best when you can divvy up necessary sleeping and cooking essentials with other group members.
Where I Took It: Overnight on the Red Buffalo Pass between Vail and Frisco.
